Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40 (1984) Fully Restored by Cartech Namibia
Back to Life – The FJ40 Reborn
How Cartech Namibia Turned a Rusted 1984 Land Cruiser FJ40 Into a True Showpiece
There’s something iconic about the Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40 – boxy, bold, and built to last. But even legends can fade. This 1984 model came to us as little more than a rusted shell: corroded panels, a lifeless engine bay, missing parts, and faded paint long past its prime.
The Challenge:
When the vehicle arrived, rust had taken over the wheel arches, rocker panels, and floor. Key structural points were compromised. The original green paint was barely visible, and the interior was in complete disrepair. This wasn’t just a facelift – it was a ground-up resurrection.
The Process:
We started with complete disassembly. Severely rusted areas were cut out and replaced with freshly fabricated panels. Precision welding brought strength back to the body. The chassis was treated and repainted, and the engine bay was prepped for new life.
Then came the bodywork:
- sanding, priming, painting, polishing – and restoring trim parts with loving attention to detail.
The original character of the FJ40 was preserved, but upgraded for longevity and style.
